Christmas Candy Sack Crochet Pattern

The Christmas Candy Sack is a cute, little pouch that is quick to crochet and holds a lot of candy! Eleven short rounds of bright red double crochet, single crochet and half double stitches and one round of white bobbles make this darling Christmas Candy Sack a fast and simple project for Christmas.

Materials:

Worsted weight #4 yarn (red and white)

H/5mm crochet hook

Tapestry needle

Size:  approximately 3 ½” x 4”

Abbreviations:  (US terms)

Ch – chain

Sc – single crochet

Dc – double crochet

Dc2tog – double crochet 2 stitches together

Sl st – slip stitch

St – stitch(es)

 ** – repeat stitches between * * as indicated

Special Stitches:

Bobble stitch:   yo, insert hook into indicated st, yo, pull up a loop, (3 loops on hook), yo, pull through 2 loops on hook (2 loops left on hook), yo, insert hook into same st, yo, pull up a loop, (4 loops on hook), yo and pull through all 4 loops.

Dc2tog:  [yarn over, insert hook in next st, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops] twice, yarn over and draw through 3 loops on hook

Notes: 

1. Do not turn at end of round unless specified
2. Insert a place marker at the end of each round
3. ch 1 and ch 2 at beginning of row does not count as stitch

Instructions:

Ch 4 with red yarn and join with slip stitch to form ring

Round 1:  ch 1, 8 sc in ring, join with sl st to ch 1 (8)

Round 2:  ch 1, 2 sc in same st as ch 1, 2 sc in each stitch around, join with sl st to sc (16)

Round 3:  ch 1, 2 sc in same st as ch 1, 2 sc in each stitch around, join with sl st to sc (32)

Round 4 – 7:  ch 2, dc in each stitch around, join with sl st to dc (32)

Round 8:  ch 2, dc in 1^st st, *dc2tog, dc in next 3 stitches*  Repeat * * around to the last 4 st, dc in last 4 st, join with sl st to dc (26)

Round 9: ch 2, dc in first 4 st, dc2tog, *dc in next 4 stitches, dc2tog* repeat * * around to last 2 st, dc in last 2 st, join with sl st to dc (22)

Round 10: ch 1, *sc, ch 1, skip 1 st* around, join with sl st to sc (22)

Round 11: ch 1, hdc in each stitch around, sl st to join.  Change to white yarn

Round 12:  ch 1, turn, sl st in 1^st st, *bobble in next, sl st in next st*  Repeat * * around, join with sl st to sl st.

Finish off and weave in ends.

Tie:  Weave approximately 20” of white yarn through the ch-1 spaces in Round 10 and tie a bow
