Holiday Gift Bag Crochet Pattern

This Holiday Gift Bag is perfect for gifting small presents or treats. Add a Christmas tree ornament or Christmas candy to the Holiday Gift Bag for a quick gift, housewarming gift or hostess thank you gift.

The bag works up quickly with three row repeats and uses approximately 120 total yards of yarn. Beginners will love the bag as the only stitches required are the single crochet and the double crochet.

Holiday Gift Bag

Materials:

Worsted yarn or cotton yarn #4 weight

(3 colors)

H / 5.00 crochet hook

Size:  6” x 7”

Abbreviations:    (US terms)

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

sl st – slip stitch

st – stitch(es)

** –  repeat stitches between * *

Holiday Gift Bag Pattern

With green, ch 20

Round 1:  1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each of next 17 sc, 2 sc in last sc, crochet 18 sc on
the opposite side of starting chain, 2 sc in last st, sl st to first sc. place marker after last stitch
and do not turn (40 sc)

Note:  Be careful with your stitch tension. Too tight stitches will cause the piece to curl.

Round 2:  sc in each of the next 18 stitches, 3 sc in the next stitch, sc in each of the next 19 stitches, 2 sc in last stitch. Move place marker. Do not turn. (42)

Round 3:  sc in each stitch around (42)

Round 4:  ch 1, turn,   dc in 1^st st,  * ch1, skip 1 stitch, 1 dc in next sc,*   Repeat * to * to last sc, ch1, skip last sc, sl st to first dc (not ch 1). (21 dc

Round 5 – 6:   ch 1, turn,  sc in 1^st stitch, sc in each stitch around. Sl st to 1^st sc (not ch 1)   (42 sc)  

Rounds 7 – 15:  Repeat rounds  4-6

Change to cream yarn

Rounds 16-21:  repeat rounds 4-6

Tie:

With burgundy, ch 70

sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each chain to end. Fasten off and weave in ends.

                                                                                                                                        

Finishing:  Weave tie through spaces in round 19 and tie a bow

Embellishments:  Add colorful beads, furry yarn, bells, pom poms, candy canes, flowers, ribbons
