In my last post, I discussed Fat Bottom Bags. You can read that post here. The body of the bag is usually one large granny square (about 18” square) with a few rows of single crochet on the two sides and top edges and round bamboo handles. This is an easy bag to crochet and the perfect bag for using up scraps of yarn – the different color scraps look fantastic together. Using a handle other than a round bamboo handle really gives the bag a different look as well.
I have seen fat bottom bags crocheted in a rectangular shape. These bags are wider and not as deep and usually have different handles or the handles are crocheted straps.
My finished bags
Below are pictures of Fat Bottom Bags I have finished. I crocheted both with 100% cotton yarn. For the first bag, I chose grey, mauve, white and navy yarns and embellished with a crocheted flower and lace and cloth strips. The lining has a some grey in the little flowers, and I hand stitched the lining to the yarn bag.
My latest bag is the basic granny square but in only three colors (navy blue, white and grey). I added three flowers and three rows of lace, and I hand stitched the lining to the bag.

Will you be making yourself a Fat Bottom Bag? If so, please post a picture of your project. I’m crocheting another bag, taking pictures and writing down the directions. Be on the lookout for the post!
Thanks for stopping by and happy crocheting!
