Crocheting and Preparing for Christmas

Crocheting and preparing for Christmas — In mid-July I posted an article about how I get ready for a craft fair and Christmas.  I’d like to say I followed through with all my plans, but as I mentioned in the article, that doesn’t always happen.  Sometimes life just gets in the way and plans get changed, dropped or just forgotten.

The first task on my list was completed – to review my patterns to see what I hope to crochet this year.  My stack of patterns is pretty much in the same spot on my desk as they were in July.  I also mentioned I found a pattern for Thanksgiving gnomes that I hoped to make for the craft fair in November.  Those little cuties were started in August but not finished.  Truthfully, I don’t even know where the gnomes are.  ;’{

So, yesterday I reviewed my patterns and selected three projects that I really want to complete before the craft fair in three weeks.  Then I looked through my yarn stash for the yarn needed for each project.  Since I am a bit of a hoarder, I found all the yarn that I need.  ;’)

Next, I placed a copy of the pattern and the required yarn in a jumbo plastic zipper bag (Dollar Tree has these large bags).  I didn’t put crochet hooks in the bags because I keep my favorite hooks in a pouch on the table next to my chair where I crochet.  Other hooks that I may need are in bag on the floor next to my chair.

I also found patterns for items that I would like to make for Christmas presents.  Yarn was not a problem for two of these projects, but I will have to make a trip to a craft store (yay!) to get yarn for the third project.  My plastic bags and patterns are all set up for these gifts.

While searching for the Thanksgiving gnomes, I found a crossbody bag I also worked on in August – yarn, pattern, and almost finished project in a plastic bag.   Maybe I will finish this bag and give it as a gift.  Hmmmm.

Fingers crossed that I complete all these projects before the craft fair and Christmas!

Good news is a project I recently crocheted was a keyhole scarf (yay!).  I hope to post the finished pattern in a couple weeks.

Happy Crocheting!
