Crossing Lines Granny Square Crochet Pattern

Crossing Lines Granny Square Crochet Pattern. Here is another modern looking granny square. The Crossing Lines Granny Square is easy to crochet and works up quickly due to the simple double crochet stitch, but you do need to pay attention to the color changes as indicated in the pattern.

Materials:

Worsted weight #4 (Loops & Threads Impeccable, Navy and Soft Fern)

H/5mm hook

Tapestry needle

Skill level:  Advanced beginner

Size:  5 1/8” x 5 1/8”

Abbreviations (US terms)

ch – chain

dc – double crochet

sl st – slip stitch

ch-2 – chain 2

** – repeat stitches between * *

Notes:

  1. When changing yarn colors, make a seamless color change. Click here for a tutorial on changing yarn colors
  2. Starting in Round 3, you will alternate yarns – drop one color and crochet with the 2nd color – do not fasten off the yarns. Carry the yarns along the top of the row on the back side. Click here for a video tutorial.

With Color A (green) , chain 4, join with sl st to 1st chain to form ring.

Round 1:  Ch3,  2dc, ch 2 in the ring,  *3 dc in ring, ch 2*  Repeat * * 2  times. Slip stitch to beginning ch 3 and fasten off.

Round 2:  Join Color B (blue)  in any ch- 2 space (corner), ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the same ch-2 space. *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same ch-2 space*.  Repeat * * in next two ch-2 spaces. Slip stitch to ch 3 and fasten off.

Note:  In the following rounds, you will be switching colors with a seamless color change and carrying the dropped yarns along the top of the rows

Round 3:   Join Color A (green) in any ch-2 space. Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the same ch-2 space. Drop Color B (green) and  *switch to  Color B (blue),  3 dc in space between the two 3dc clusters. Drop Color A (blue) and switch to Color A (green),  (3 dc. ch 2, 3 dc) into ch-2 space*    Repeat ** 3 times.

Drop Color A (green) and switch to Color B (blue),  3 dc in next space between clusters, change to Color A (green) and slip stitch to ch 3

Note:  Don’t forget to carry the blue yarn along the top of the stitches

Round 4: With Color A (green)  sl st to the ch-2 space, ch 3 (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) into the same ch-2 space

Switch to Color B (blue), 3 dc in space between the two 3dc clusters 2 times

*Switch to Color A (green), (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch- 2 space

Repeat ** 2 times

Switch to Color A (green) and slip stitch to ch 3, slip stitch to ch-2 space

Switch to Color B (blue),       3 dc in the next space between the 3dc clusters
