Flower Wall Basket Crochet Pattern

The Flower Wall Basket would make a lovely addition to any home.  The Flower Wall Basket would be a great project for advanced beginners and experienced crocheters.

Materials:

Bernat Maker Home Dec (Cream), 1 skein, 100 yds
L / 8mm hook
Tapestry needle

Flowers or other embellishment

Skill level:  Advanced beginner

Gauge:  7 hdc = 3”

Size:  11” x 17” (to top of hanging loop)

Abbreviations:  (US terms)

sc – single crochet

hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip ch – chain
stitch
st – stitch(es)

fpdc – front post double crochet

( _) – number of stitches at end of row

** – stitches to be repeated from * – *

Special Stitches:   Front post double crochet

Notes:

  1.  Ch 1 or ch 2 does not count as a stitch at beginning of a row
  2.  Be sure to count stitches in each row

Ch 40

Row 1: dc in the 3rd ch from the hook. dc in next 31 ch (38)

Row 2: ch 2, turn, dc into the first stitch, *front post double crochet (fpdc) in next st, dc in next st,*  repeat *-* to last stitch, dc in last stitch  (38)

Row 3: ch 1 (does not count as stitch), turn, hdc in each stitch to end of row  (38)

Row 4:  ch 2, turn, dc in each stitch to end  (38)

Repeat rows 2-4 till piece measures 15” across and 15” high (square) ending with hdc row

Hanging loop and edging: 

Row 5:  ch 1,  *sc in 1st stitch and continue to corner, 3 sc in corner.*   Repeat * – * 2 more times. Continue sc to 1st sc, join with sl st to 1st sc

Rpw 6:  Ch 10, sl st into bottom of the 1st ch.  *Sc in 1st stitch and continue to corner, 3 sc in corner.*   Repeat * – * 2 more times. Continue sc to hanging loop. Make 14 sc in the loop. sl st to sc at bottom of loop, sl st in next stitch.  Do not cut yarn. 

Folding the pocket:

Place square piece on flat surface with the loop at the top. Fold the two sides to the center and fold up the bottom.

Finishing:

Sew the seams Sew the seams from the corner to the center, finish off and weave in ends.  Click here for several sewing options

Slip stitch around edges:

Return to last sl st at hanging loop.  Continue slip stitch around edge to center V, work sc 3 stitches together at V, sl st in each stitch along other edge back to loop.  Finish off and weave in ends.

Embellishments:  Fill the pocket with flowers, leaves, stems, tissue or other embellishments.
